Ditch the Sales Pitch: How to Sell Your Products and Services for People Who HATE Selling
Do you hate selling? If you answered yes, which If you are listening to this podcast episode I assume you did, I couldn’t agree more! Selling is awkward, unnatural, and so overdone - that people aren’t very receptive to it anymore. But what if you are trying to sell a product? How do you sell without selling? Today we are going to ditch the sales pitch and talk about how to sell your products and services to people - without really selling anything.
Plant Evergreen Seeds
If you aren’t into selling, but you need to sell your product or service - the best way to do that is by using evergreen social media platforms. My biggest suggestion? Start a YouTube Channel, like yesterday. YouTube (in my opinion) is the best, lead-generating machine for businesses and not all businesses are taking advantage of it yet. Just like all social media platforms, it takes time to start building some traction on your YouTube videos, but if you create high-quality and high-value content consistently on YouTube, it’s bound to get traction, which can help lead folks to your products and services.
Here is how this would work. You would create video after video solving problems for your target market, which means your video viewers would be the perfect customer for your product or service. You could naturally mention your product or service in those videos and have it linked in the description. This call to action would lead these viewers to your offering, which if set up properly, could convert into a sale. You never really had to “sell” anything. You provided free value and let them know a way they could go deeper with you, without having to do any sales pitch. Now imagine if you posted a video a week for a couple of years, these videos will continue leading folks to your offerings even two years later. You will continue selling, without selling, for years to come if you set this all up properly. If you want an entire podcast about how to leverage YouTube to increase your sales and income in general, shoot us a DM @creatorlymedia.
If video isn’t your thing, you could also use other platforms like a Podcast or Blog as well, both of these could help generate leads to your products and services as well.
Create a Strong Sales Page
It’s not enough to send folks to your products and services, you need to lead them somewhere that will do the selling for you. The best way to do that is by having a well-thought-out, detail-filled sales page. This sales page needs to include the following:
A bold, problem-focused headline
Your headline is the first thing your audience will read when they open your product or service sales page for the first time. You want to use your headline to grab their attention and encourage them to keep reading.
A description of the benefits of your product Your headline might capture your audience's attention, but it's your body copy that explains the real value of what you're offering. You can include information about who this is for, who it isn’t for, and every last detail about what your customers can expect if they decide to purchase this from you.
High-quality imagery and videos of your product Humans respond to visual data far more quickly than text, period. People want to see and experience the product they're thinking about buying. Using high-quality product images and video evokes a more emotional response.
Social proof, customer reviews, and testimonials
One of the first things I do when purchasing a new product is to check out the reviews. It’s important to include some of this on your sales page, so the potential buyer can see that someone else has not only purchased your product or service before but had a good experience with it? If this is a new product or service, the best way to get this social proof is by giving it away for free or doing a pre-launch at a discounted rate before doing the full launch.
A strong call to action and pricing information
Once your audience is feeling informed and ready to make the decision, it’s time to give them some details on pricing and way to hit that buy button, but remember - your call to action on a product or service sales page is not just the “buy” button. Your CTA should also include how much the product costs, any variations or packages that customers can choose from, and ideally, the checkout process itself.
Be the Real You & Build Trust
Yes, part of selling without selling is just being yourself. On your social media platforms, like YouTube and Instagram, in your email list, on your website - just be wholeheartedly YOU. If you provide free value, time, dedication, and your genuine personality to your audience - you won’t ever really need to “sell” to them - you will just mention your products naturally throughout your content and the product will sell itself. Here are a few tips on building trust with your audience.
Be Available to Help
I know from experience it gets overwhelming responding to all comments and DMs. Honestly, there comes a time where that might be unreasonable, but the biggest thing is just doing your best to be available to help your audience. If they need your help ... help them. Maybe that’s doing a weekly Q&A, providing answers to some of the most common questions, or maybe creating content based on requests from your audience. Just make yourself available.
Provide Resources
If someone is struggling with something, provide them with FREE resources when you can. Maybe that is a link to a product that will help them solve their problems, maybe it’s a freebie you have created for your audience, a video or post you have done in the past, or maybe it’s a link to another creator’s content or services. Take that extra step to provide helpful resources for your audience.
Build Consistent Connections
Check in with your audience, and be there for them just like you would be for a close friend. Building a relationship isn’t a one-time and done action - it’s something you need to continue working on overtime to build something authentic and true.

If you do these three things, you will set your business up to sell for you - so you can ditch the pitch and just build authentic relationships with your audience or customers.
